Gambling: Blaine’s Basketball Picks

Well. Well. Well. Here we are again. In a year that has been full of chaos and uncertainty, I am beyond certain of one thing: I am here to bring order to your existence with my daily picks. I had to take a brief hiatus from the capping scene after a stellar football season, but I am back and with a vengeance. Due to the short-lived nature of Vegas’ basketball odds I think this piece might be better served as a daily update with a few guaranteed winners. I promised myself this would be a two or three pick-a-day thing, but if you know me, then you know that isn’t happening! I am at five already! We’ll take a look at the college slate first.

Drake (4.5) @ Northern Iowa

Drake!!!! Can I say anymore? Just imagine me, a drunk guy in a bar (not too hard to imagine), yelling at you to throw your paycheck on Drake. Well that’s me, and I am drunk on Drake covering the spread. They’re 16-4 against the spread this season. Meanwhile, Northern Iowa is a whopping 4-15 during that same timespan. Drake slapped UNI around the court just a week ago to beat them by 21, and AINT. SHIT. CHANGED. Take the Bulldogs.

Citadel (+9.5) @ Wofford

Despite my personal attachments to this pick, I still think it’s a good one. Both these SoCon teams are just about even when it comes to their records against the spread and outright. However, I am giving Citadel the edge in this one. The Bulldogs lead the conference in scoring and, just like the other Bulldogs in this article, spanked their opponents less than a month ago. What can I say? I was born to be a dog baby, a live DAWG!!

Wake Forest (+6.5) vs. Duke

Nothing to say here; this is a system play. Don’t think of this as gambling advice (lol), think of it as investment advice. Duke is trash, and while they have played better the past couple of games, they are still way overvalued by the public.

Let’s turn to the pros now…

Pistons (+3) @ Bulls

You came to the wrong place if you wanted to bet on NBA games that were meaningful. But if you want to make money, then this is a great pick for you. These teams are just about even, all things considered. But I love Dwayne Casey and have a theory the Pistons might just be better without Blake Griffin.

Golden State (-1.5) vs. Heat

The Heat are as bad as you can get against the spread this year. Traveling East Coast to West Coast to battle a red-hot Warriors team doesn’t inspire confidence either. Golden State is .500 against the spread, but Steph Curry is quietly having an MVP caliber season that should strike fear in any bettor crazy enough to bet against him.
