Hawks still reportedly interested in Pascal Siakam trade

NBA: MAR 21 Raptors at Bulls

The Hawks haven’t participated in free agency since it kicked off on Friday, but the club is still reportedly mulling a Pascal Siakam trade, according to Michael Grange.

After dealing John Collins, it seems the Hawks are in deal making mode, as the club has reportedly shopped De’Andre Hunter, Dejounte Murray, Clint Capela, and practically everyone else not named Trae Young.

Jake Fischer first reported that Atlanta had attempted to acquire Pascal Siakam. However, a report from Chris Haynes suggests Siakam wouldn’t re-sign with a team who attempts to trade for him. I guess the Hawks aren’t discouraged by that news, though.

There aren’t many obvious moves the Hawks can make to shed salary and also get better, but acquiring an All-Star in Siakam certainly would accomplish both, considering the haul of assets Atlanta would have to send to Toronto.

I’m not quite sure what the plans are; hell, I’m not sure the Hawks even know the plan. It’s a basketball club without a clear direction and expensive contracts on the books that prevent the front office from making meaningful moves.

The Hawks have a difficult road ahead. Without any worthwhile upgrades to the roster, this will once again be a playoff team that gets bounced in one of the first two rounds.
