How would Nolan Smith fit into the Falcons scheme?

We are just over a week away from the start of the NFL Draft, and the rumor mill is swirling at hyper speed. I love this time of year, because it’s the one time each year where the “NFL insiders” are just as clueless as us common-folk. Absolutely nobody has any idea of what’s going to happen with most of the team’s come April 27th. Outside of Bryce Young going #1 overall, it’s a guessing game, and the Falcons are right in the middle of it with the 8th pick in the draft.

Over the course of this offseason, Atlanta has been mocked to take a bevy of players. There are probably 5-10 guys I could be happy with if their name was called when the Falcons are on the clock, and one that has gained a ton of steam in recent weeks thanks to his outstanding NFL Combine performance is Nolan Smith. He’s now worked his way into the top 10 of many mock drafts, and several experts have him landing with the Falcons.

On the latest episode of SportsTalkATL, we discuss Smith’s rise up draft boards, his strengths and weaknesses, and how he might fit in Atlanta’s new defense.
