Lamar Patterson Secures the Hawks’ Final Roster Spot

With the season starting on Tuesday, the Hawks have finally trimmed down their roster. The team announced that they have cut Dequan Jones and Earl Barron, with Lamar Patterson earning the final roster spot. Patterson, 24, made a strong impression throughout the Summer League and the preseason after spending last season playing in Turkey. He was drafted 48th overall by the team out of Pittsburgh last year after a great college career. However, the team wanted him to play elsewhere last season to further polish his game, much like they did with Mike Muscala. He had a great outing in the team’s last preseason game against the Pistons. In 31 minutes, Patterson scored 18 points to go along with 6 assists and 4 steals. Patterson won’t see this many minutes very often if at all this season, but with minutes up for grabs on the wing, there’s no telling how big of a role he could be in store for if he plays solid basketball. Congrats Lamar, and prove to Hawks fans why you earned this roster spot.
