Manny Banuelos To Start Thursday Against The Nationals

On Thursday’s series finale against Washington, Braves’ prospect Manny Banuelos will take the bump for Atlanta. Banuelos has been excellent in Gwinnett, especially of late. The lefty is 6-2 with a 2.29 ERA this season in AAA, but over his last 11 games has an ERA of 1.59. Banuelos will be starting in the place of Williams Perez, who was struck in the ankle by a comebacker in his last start against Pittsburgh. Manny was acquired from the New York Yankees this offseason for Chasen Shreve and David Carpenter. Once ranked the #13 prospect in all of Major League Baseball, Banuelos underwent Tommy John Surgery and has had his innings limited by the Braves for this season. So far this “project” seems to be working out, and the kid is going to get his shot at the show Thursday in Atlanta.

SportsTalkATL.com ranked Banuelos as the Braves’ #6 overall prospect for the month of June.
