Mets claim William Woods off waivers from the Braves

To protect players from the Rule 5 Draft, the Braves had to make some room on their 40-man roster. One of the casualties was William Woods, who was designated for assignment. I thought there was a chance he wouldn’t get picked up and would return to Gwinnett, but the pesky little Mets like to ruin everything and have claimed him off waivers.

He actually appeared twice for the Braves last season, tossing two scoreless innings, but the rest of his season was pretty forgetful. In 18 games for the Stripers, he posted a 5.19 ERA. However, William Woods is only still only 23 years old, and I thought he had the stuff to be a quality reliever one day. Apparently, so do the Mets. Too bad I now have to root for his demise.
