PFF has Falcons taking a quarterback in way-too-early 2024 Mock Draft

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: SEP 02 Boise State Broncos at Washington

It’s never too early to start talking about the draft, and PFF has a bold prediction for the Falcons in 2024 .

PFF has the Falcons selecting Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. out of Washington.

10. ATLANTA FALCONS: QB MICHAEL PENIX JR., WASHINGTON

If Penix can stay healthy, he can be a first-round pick. He reminded us of that in his 2023 debut, earning an 86.3 passing grade with three big-time throws, just one turnover-worthy play and a 78.4% adjusted completion percentage. He has one of the strongest arms in the country, and he’s pairing that with experience and nuance at the position.

I don’t think the Falcons will be picking 10th overall, but if they are, you can bet they’ll be in the market for a quarterback. It’s too early for all of that, but I really like Penix as a college quarterback. He was solid at Indiana and has a chance to really elevate Washington and get them back to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

The Pac 12 is super competitive, chock full of a lot of the best quarterbacks in college football. Penix is the third quarterback from the conference to be taken in this scenario. I’m not a fan of lefty quarterbacks, but there’s no doubt Penix is very talented.

If you didn’t watch Washington beat up on Boise State over the weekend, Penix and that receiving core are as talented as any in the country. They are going to be must watch television all season, and it won’t be surprising if he’s taken even higher than this come the 2024 draft. Penix could be exactly what the Falcons need if Desmond Ridder proves he is not the answer this season.
