According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk & the New York Daily News — Matt Hennessy had multiple suitors on draft night.

The New York Daily News reports that the Jets, who owned the 79th pick, had agreed to trade the pick to the Broncos. However, Hennessy was the guy the Broncos wanted, so when the Falcons took him at 78, the trade for No. 79 was off.

The Broncos still ended up taking a center — LSU standout Lloyd Cushenberry. Cushenberry isn’t some consolation prize, but it’s apparent that Hennessy wasn’t going to make it past pick 78. He was a popular player on a lot of fan based mock drafts, and his versatility was appealing to several teams. Luckily, Atlanta didn’t forecast their plans for him in the 3rd, or they may have been jumped in the draft.
