Trevor Sikkema has the Falcons taking a difference maker on defense in his latest mock draft

One of the best football minds in the media, Trevor Sikkema, has released his first mock draft. Of course, he has the Falcons addressing the pass rush:

The mock overall is pretty good — you should check the whole thing out. However, the Falcons pick is an interesting one, and I really like the rationale:

6. ATLANTA FALCONS: EDGE JARED VERSE, FLORIDA STATE

Verse is one of my favorite players in this class. Previously at FCS Albany, Verse transformed his body during the COVID-impacted season and gained 40 pounds, jumping from 210 as a redshirt freshman to 250 as a junior. He was named an all-conference player that season before transferring to Florida State. In his lone season in the FBS, he not only didn’t look overwhelmed, but he also dominated when healthy. He looks and feels like a total package edge rusher.

The Falcons are going to have a lot of options. Additionally, they have a ton of money to spend on pass rushers in free agency. Personally, I’m a fan of Tyree Wilson. Myles Murphy would also be a great pick. When it comes down to it, the Falcons may end up getting high enough in the draft to select Will Anderson, Jalen Carter, or a 1uarterback. Still, I love this pick — he’s a player many fans may not be familiar with and could absolutely be in play for the Falcons in the first round.
