Why was Bijan Robinson not on the field for the Falcons?

NFL: SEP 17 Packers at Falcons

The most puzzling development of Sunday’s game between the Falcons and Bucs surrounded Bijan Robinson.

The Falcons 8th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft has been nothing short of sensational through the first six weeks of the season, but he didn’t see the field until late in the first quarter and did not touch the ball in the first half. It was evident something wasn’t right, even though Robinson didn’t appear on the injury report, and finally, some clarity was brought to the situation at halftime.

Robinson didn’t see the field much more in the second half, but he did oddly see his first touch while the Falcons were burning clock ahead of their game-winning field. A peculiar time to give somebody their first touch of the game, and I’m not sure we’ll ever get a logical explanation for that, but it didn’t end up costing Atlanta, who won the game on a Younghoe Koo 51-yard field goal moments later.

After the game, Robinson talked to reporters about what was bothering him.

I don’t mind Arthur Smith playing things safe with his star player, especially with Tyler Allgeier and Cordarrelle Patterson in the fold. They are plenty capable of handling the load, and they proved that on Sunday. Hopefully, Bijan Robinson is healthy and ready to go for the Falcons Week 8 tilt against the Titans.
