Braves reach their 2021 win total with win over Giants

Last night, the Braves took care of the Giants to cut the Mets divisional lead to just a half-game. It was also the Braves’ 88th win of the season, which matches their season win total from last season.

The Braves’ path to the World Series last season was atypical. They weren’t above .500 until August and needed Alex Anthopoulos to work magic at the trade deadline to turn things around.

But by the end of the season, the Braves were playing better baseball than anyone, which is what it’s all about. This year’s squad is much more talented from top to bottom. They are on pace to win 100 games, but the club will once again need to play their best baseball down the stretch. If that happens, you have to like their chances of winning their fifth consecutive NL East title and, potentially, another World Series.
