Earlier this year, the Rome Braves announced they would be changing their brand, beginning with the team name. Today, they announced the change.

The Braves High-A affiliate will now be known as the Rome Emperors. They will also be changing their colors from the traditional Braves red and navy to a black and red look.
The name and the uniforms are whatever. I get the play on the great emperors of Rome. However, they could have done a lot better. The best part about it is their play on the Emperor Penguin, which is their new logo. That’s creative, but the color scheme is rather bland, which is something the Gwinnett Stripers nailed.
Overall, I give the brand change a B-. I can definitely get behind buying a hat with a Penguin holding a baseball bat, but the rest needs some work.
