The draw for the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League has taken place and Atlanta United now knows its first round opponent.
United has been paired with Herediano, a club from Costa Rica.
For the Costa Rican team, this will be its ninth appearance in the tournament. Last year, they lost 5-3 on an aggregate score against Tigres in the first round of the tournament.
The tournament is set to begin in February, with Herediano hosting the first leg and the second leg taking place in Atlanta. Official dates will be announced at a later date.
If United advances to the next round, it will face the winner between Monterrey and Alianza.
The winner of this tournament will represent the CONCACAF confederation in the Club World Cup, set to be played in December of 2019.
